During the annual SlowUp event, 33 km of roads around Lake Morat and through Avenches are closed to vehicles for cyclists, rollerbladers and walkers to enjoy! SlowUp Sunday on Lake Morat is the perfect opportunity to explore the magnificent Three Lakes Region at your own pace.
A Swiss concept highlighting alternative forms of transport, the idea behind SlowUp is to close a road to traffic for a day so you can enjoy the beautiful scenery around you at your own pace.
Of the 19 participating regions, Lake Morat opens the SlowUp season in French-speaking Switzerland on the last Sunday of April.
Cyclists, walkers and rollerbladers can choose their own starting point on the 33 km circuit around Lake Morat and travel freely round the car-free route in a clockwise direction – with a small exception on selected sections. All along the route and in the SlowUp village of Avenches, there are musical, gastronomic and fun events throughout the day. A popular, enjoyable event whether you come with your family, on your own, as a couple or in a group.
